In partnership with the City of Orlando, Blueprint 2.0 financially supports city residents who are completing vocational skills training. Our program helps residents overcome certain barriers in order to fulfill their goals of completing the short-term training needed to prepare for a long-term career in a high-demand, higher-wage industry. The CFUL is proud to offer a weekly stipend of $125 to individuals attending Blueprint-approved classes. This stipend ensures that participants can remain focused on their career path without worrying about finances. Over the past six months, we have awarded over 600 stipends to Orlando residents.

The Urban League also provides clients with additional life-skills training to expand their Employment options through other programming, including a Microsoft Office Specialization, the Empowerment Zone and our Meet the Banker initiatives.

 

Second Harvest

The Second Harvest Culinary Training Program provides qualified, at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults with the culinary and life skills training needed to pursue a sustainable career in the food industry.

Our 18-week program is provided at no charge and designed to assist our students with barriers that would prevent them from achieving success while enrolled, such as lack of food, housing, transportation, childcare, and medical and mental health needs.

Job Seekers:
This is a hidden gem in Central Florida.  Second Harvest will train you so you qualify for jobs in one of the largest industries in Central Florida; the culinary industry.  Employers hire all graduates in a very short period of time.  Stop by their booth for more information.  A great resource!

 

United Against Poverty

The Success Training Employment Program (STEP) is a program dedicated to enhancing job-readiness skills. The first six weeks is made up of in-class discussion-based learning in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Empowerment Training, Workplace Skills and Job Acquisition. Following graduation students work with a job coach and success coach to help them get hired and stay employed.

Job Seekers:
Enroll in the STEP program (no cost). This great organization can help individuals who may have difficulty obtaining employment because of a lack of a GED, have a criminal record, are unstably housed, or lack transportation.  If you are struggling with any of these things, Up is there to help you find your way.

The construction industry is booming.  If you are interested in working in this industry, please visit the Home Builders Institute booth.  HBI is a national leader for career training in the building industry through certification programs, mentoring, pre-apprenticeship training and job placement services. HBI prepares students with the skills and experience they need for careers in the building industry

Job Seekers:
If you have any interest in the construction industry, please talk to HBI. They provide no cost training and placement in a very viable, long term industry.

 

IDignity

IDignity was created to assist the disadvantaged in Central Florida to navigate the complexities of obtaining their personal identification, such as birth certificates, Florida ID cards, and Social Security cards. These documents are essential to fully participate in our current day society. In order to implement this program, it requires the assistance of nearly 100 dedicated volunteers and the professional staff of the various agencies. Volunteers will serve in a wide variety of roles including introducing the process to clients, filling out forms for clients, assisting agencies or shepherding clients through the process. IDignity depends on the generous investment of time and resources by the local community in order to fulfill its crucial mission of restoring dignity and hope by providing identification.

IDignity host monthly Client Services Events only on the third Thursday of every month at no cost to the clients at The Salvation Army located at 440 W. Colonial Drive, Orlando FL 32804.

We welcome anyone interested in obtaining documents to attend our next event. Please bring all the documents that you may have including school, hospital records, birth certificate, social security card, etc. We will assist you even if you do not have any of these documents. I am including an event flyer to this email for your convenience. Please arrive between 6:00-7:00 am. Intake starts at 8:30 am.

 

 

Progressive Abilities

Progressive Abilities Support Services works with individuals with disabilities who have registered with their state’s Vocational Rehabilitation program and are looking for a little bit of extra help obtaining employment. We provide a one-on-one individualized supported employment program that includes pre-employment training, career consultation, placement assistance, on-the-job training and follow-along support, among other services.

Florida Division of Blind Services

How They Help Jobseekers: The Florida Division of Blind Services helps blind and visually impaired individuals achieve their goals and live their lives with as much independence and self-direction as possible.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services are provided to assist blind and visually impaired individuals seeking employment.  Qualified individuals must have a bilateral visual impairment which constitutes or results in a substantial impediment to employment and needs services to prepare for, enter, engage in, or retain gainful employment. Successful outcomes lead to achievement of employment goals.
Information services are provided to Employers who need to know how to make a job accessible to an employee with a visual impairment.  Employers seeking to hire a qualified employee can also contact us for this information as well.
